William Bruce Smith's Obituary
Bill Smith, Husband, Grandpa, friend and the life of the party died Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Tacoma Washington. Bill was 68 years old. He was born and raised in Canada, moving to the US at the age of 17.
When we think of Bill, we think of his beautiful blue eyes, his witty sense of humor and his kind and gentle nature. Born on November 2, 1947 to Betty and Carl Smith. Bill earned his MBA at Western State Colorado University. After college he spent time as a ski instructor all over the world including the Swiss Alps. He had a couple of careers during his life. He was a nursing home administrator for 22 years and moved to driving big rigs for another 12 years.
Bill was a very compassionate person. He genuinely loved his wife and family. He was an engaged and playful Grandpa. He supported his Grand children Heather and CJ Dobbins by going to their dance and sporting events even if the weather was less then desirable. He loved to make people laugh with his quirky jokes and gleaming smile.
Although he seemed happy most of the them, those that knew him very well knew how much he struggled with depression for the past several years. He chose to take his life on the evening of December 6th. He is survived by his beloved wife Belinda Smith and his family Heather Rose Dobbins, CJ Dobbins, Kevin Dobbins and Teresa Osborn.
Memorial services will be held 1pm Thursday, Jan 7th 2016 at University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th Street West, University Place, WA 98466
