William Lucas' Obituary
William J. Lucas Born to Durward and Sadie Lucas on April 7th, 1935, William Lucas passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2014, surrounded by family. Bill had a happy childhood and graduated from Clover Park High School. After graduating from the University of Puget Sound, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force he rose to the rank of Captain, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, the Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal for service above and beyond. It was while he was serving that he met his best friend Johnny Johnson and started going by the nickname "Luke". While serving, he met his beautiful wife Angela Bartek, and they were married in June 1964. After serving in the Air Force for twenty distinguished years, he retired to become a business owner. He owned and operated Lucas Construction for twenty-five years. Bill and Angie spent forty-one wonderful years together and had three beautiful children, and eventually two grandchildren. They loved to travel, and instilled a love of traveling in their children. Whether in the motorhome or by other means, they loved spending time together as a family, and the ocean was always a favorite destination. It was in 2005 that Angie finally lost her long battle with cancer and Bill became a widower. A few years later Bill met Judy Blatt, and the two were happily married in July 2013. They loved to go to football games and Experimental Aircraft Association meetings. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, flying, and going to swap meets, and he loved cars. He was a member of several organizations, was an active leader in Civil Air Patrol, and was Scout Master for many years. Most of all, he loved his family. He was a father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, and he will be dearly missed. William is survived by his loving wife Judy Lucas, daughter Julie Aldrich and husband Jeff, granddaughter Amanda Aldrich and grandson Christopher Aldrich, son Jerry Lucas and wife Christina, and daughter Jennifer Lucas Leigh and husband Terry. Those preceding him in rest include his first wife Angela Lucas and his father and mother Durward and Sadie Lucas. A memorial and Celebration of His Life will be held November 3rd 2014 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park Valley Chapel, 4300 Steilacoom Boulevard SW, Lakewood, Washington. In lieu of flowers, we would greatly appreciate a donation be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation in honor of Captain William J. Lucas USAF RET.
