I have so many wonderful memories of Bill and all the Gernon family. I think my favorite is the weekend that Peter and I became engaged. We came to my parents' house to give them the news, and my dad and Bill had been hunting wild turkeys that day. Bill teased Peter saying "In my day, a young gentleman would ask a young lady's father before asking her to marry him." At dinner Bill gave a wonderful toast, with a twinkle in his eye and love in his voice -- "Today is a memorable day. Burt and I came home empty-handed, but Jill bagged the biggest turkey of them all today. Congratulations to Peter and Jill!"
We rejoice that Bill is with the Lord and we are thankful for all the accomplishments of his long life. God bless your family in this difficult time.
