William A Downing's Obituary
William A Downing (Bill), peacefully went home to be with the Lord December 23, 2024 at the age of 71.
Bill was born to Charles H Downing and Faye I Downing December 12, 1953 in Rantoul, Illinois at the Air Force Base.
In 1972 Bill enlisted in the Air Force until 1985 where we was active duty and also in the reserves.
Bill loved spending time hiking, fishing, camping, and bowling. During a bowling league in 1983 he met his future wife Nellie. Though the two did not start dating until December of 1984. They were married on June 15, 1985.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Nellie J Downing and their four children; Crystal Waffle (TJ), Rae Fuller (Ryan), John Green (Salina), and Lynda Chudy (Stephen). Bill is also survived by two siblings; Patricia Wasson (Dave) and Robert Downing (Betty), ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, an many nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his dad Charles H Downing, mom Fay I Downing, and a sister Dorothy J Downing.
He will be dearly missed.
Bill will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery on Wednesday January 29th at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
