William Clark's Obituary
William Lewis Clark was born October 4, 1935 to Ed and Ramona Clark in Mason City (Grand Coulee),WA He passed away on January 4, 2014 in Tacoma surrounded by a loving family. Bill was a positive influence in many lives, including family, friends, colleagues, students and volunteer groups.
Professionally, Bill was a teacher and administrator at the U of W and the University of Alaska. He retired in Anchorage after serving as chair of the Mathematical-Computer Science Dept. where he taught and encouraged many students in scientific computing.
While in Alaska, Bill also served as the Director of the National Ski Patrol (NSPS), Alaska Division. He enjoyed thirty plus years volunteering on the NSPS at Crystal Mt. in WA and Mt. Alyeska in Alaska. Bill was always an active outdoor person, twice climbing Mt. Rainer, backpacking with family, running marathons, skiing, fly fishing, sailing and traveling. He always brought contagious energy and enthusiasm to every activity.
In 1998, Bill and his wife Teddy retired to Port Ludlow, WA to be closer to his family. He enjoyed many hours cruising on their sailboat Taseko with family and friends. He served as commodore of the Port Ludlow Yacht Club and as an active committee member in his Home Owner's Assoc.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents; and younger brothers, Bob and John. He is survived by his loving wife, Teddy; and children, Sandi, Renee', Shari, and James; nephews, John and Eric; ten grandchildren; a great-grandson; and numerous family and friends.
Services were held for the immediate family at Mt View in Tacoma. A celebration of Bill's life will be held May 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Port Ludlow Beach Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Jefferson County Hospital ER unit in Port Townsend or St Joseph's Hospital oncology unit in Tacoma.
