William Wallace "Wally" Cavanagh Jr.
Wally was born May 9, 1926, in Parsons, Kansas to Wallace Sr. and Leona H. Cavanagh. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on July 23, 2015.
Wally attended Tacoma Public Schools, graduating from Stadium High School in 1943. After serving proudly in the Pacific Theatre during World War II he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the former College of Puget Sound. He then earned his law degree from the University of Washington, School of Law.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Norma Cavanagh, and by his grandson, Garrett Cavanagh. He is survived by his brother, Warren Cavanagh (Jeanette), his sons, Wally (Kathy), Randy, and Darin (Mary). He leaves a legacy of grandchildren; Kyla Cavanagh, Courtney Cavanagh, Charlene Brown, Scott Cavanagh, Colin Cavanagh; great-grandchildren Jauclynn Chappell-Brown and Manuel Marshall III.
Wally was a partner in the Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, LLP, Law Firm. He was also a member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, Fircrest Golf Club, Tacoma Elks # 174, and was active in the Highlands Golf Course, LLP.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Cottesmore of Life Care and to St. Anthony’s Hospital of Gig Harbor.
Wally’s life will be remembered and celebrated with a memorial service on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Skyline Presbyterian Church, 6301 Westgate Boulevard, Tacoma, WA.
A private family graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
