William "Bill" F. Baumgras' Obituary
William “Bill” Baumgras passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2025 in Tacoma, WA surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Tacoma, Bill was the first of two children born to William and Emily Baumgras and grew up in a home filled with love and laughter. He remained in the family home for most of his life and ensured it remained filled with the same love that he grew up with, creating new traditions and memories with his own children.
Bill was an avid sailor and enjoyed sharing his passion and knowledge with others by becoming an instructor. He fondly shared his adventures throughout the Puget Sound with his family and friends. When he was not sailing, he enjoyed watching historical documentaries, reading, and playing UNO with the family. Bill's intellectual curiosity was only matched by his devotion to his family and he had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, valued and included, shaping a legacy that touched those fortunate enough to know him.
Bill was not your "typical" big brother either. He always included his little brother Bob when out with friends, watching their favorite television show or playing a game of darts. They would also be seen skin diving from time to time and their connection was a testament to true loyalty and love.
Bill was preceded in death by great-grandson, Ernie, and is survived by his brother Bob; two daughters, Kim and Tina; five grandchildren, Chris, Sarah, Joe, Rhy and Jay; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Hayden and Oliver.
