Willard Manning Swanzy,'s Obituary
Kind and mellow with a keen sense of humor, Bill was an easy person to be around. Bill was born on April 3, 1943, in Biloxi, MS, to Willard and Marjorie Swanzy. Bill was the eldest of five children. In the early years, the family moved around the country, and to Bermuda. Bill graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, CO, in 1961. He received an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO, where he excelled in gymnastics and ROTC. Bill had a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam and earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses, as well as several other awards. He married Glenda Wonders and completed an M.S. in Business Administration at San Francisco University. Most recently, Bill has worked as a home insurance investigator and manager of Swan Courts Apartments in Lakewood, WA. Throughout his life, Bill was an avid writer. Bill leaves behind his daughter, Megan Goldman, who lives with her husband Jeff and children Vivian and Teddy in Buda, TX, and his son Garrett, who resides in the Seattle area. In addition, Bill is survived by his mother, his brothers Joe, Jerry, and Jon, and his sister Michelle. Bill was deeply loved by his family and revered in the community. We will miss him.
