Edward Del Pilar
When Willie came into our lives in my teen years, it was a struggle between myself and Willie for a little while but things got better in time. In fact, it didn’t take long before both our interest in automobiles got to the point where he and mom co-signed a loan for my second vehicle, ( a ‘52 Chevy pick up ). I think that started a history in our family seeing that my older brother Mickey and later Willie each had similar vehicles (Willie a ‘53 and Mickey a ‘51 Chevrolet pick ups!) Boy, O put put some serious mileage on that vehicle and remembered Willie helping me install two transmissions in that thing and teaching me how to tune the valves and time it!
Him and I also did a fair amount of fishing at the rock jetty in Half Moon Bay.
Willie and mom would be in awe when I told them of stories on where I would travel in all the different places and vehicles I drove throughout my life ( probably because I never owned a new car, most were at least ten or more years old!)
I made it a point to visit the Willie and mom a lot during their later years and acting as liaison between my siblings and the folks to let everyone know what’s going on. I would joke with Willie and tease mom so as to relieve stress between them😜!
I miss you and the great times we had together!
Love, your step son, Ed
