Wesley J. Pomeroy's Obituary
Wesley Joseph Pomeroy Wes was born in Tacoma on June 23, 1925, and passed away July 25, 2011. He served as a Gunner's Mate, First Class, in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star with valor in the Korean War. After the Navy, he began his 37-year career with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1983. Wes was an avid golfer and rockhound, and also spent his retirement years as a founding member of the Pioneer Telephone Museum in downtown Tacoma. Wes was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Pomeroy, sisters Loris Sturdevant Peavey and Fran Bodin, infant brother Charles, and infant sister Ardis. Wes was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by Alta, his wife of 59 years, children Vicki McEvoy, Debbi and Jeff Olson, Steve and Trisha Pomeroy, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Chris Olson and Jennifer Wolf, Jill and Aron Beedle (Adam), Andrea Olson (Venita and Evin), and Nick Olson, and his loving extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011, in the Oak Room at the Mountain View Funeral Home, accompanied by a military Honor Guard at 2:30 p.m.
