Wendey M. Weathers' Obituary
After an eight year battle with cancer, Wendey Weathers passed away peacefully January 27, 2016. In spite of the treatments and procedures, Wendey kept a positive outlook and refused to give up. Even near the end she said she needed to fight harder so her family wouldn’t be without her. The cancer took her million dollar smile and sparkling eyes but it could not take her spirit nor weaken her faith. Her daily postings on social media were inspirational to others. Wendey was born in Tacoma and grew up in Lakewood-Parkland. She graduated from Clover Park in 1970 and attended Tacoma Community College. She was hired upon graduation and worked in a variety of jobs during her career. Wendey’s last position before retiring was Program Coordinator for Assessment. She loved her family, the ocean, travelling, Mt Rainier and being with friends. For many years, Wendey enjoyed volksmarching which she began with her husband while stationed in Germany. One of Wendey’s passions was baking for her family, especially during the holidays. She was proud of her affiliation with the Stilliguamish tribe. Wendey is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom Weathers, whom she met in elementary school. Wendey was the sparkle in Tom’s eyes during school years but they didn’t date until college. They married in March 1974 and enjoyed so much together during their marriage. Wendey loved her children and had a very close relationship with them. She is survived by son, Matthew Weathers, daughter, Kerry O’Flaherty (Ryan), granddaughter Chloe, and brother, Jeff Tatro (Regina). Wendey was preceded in death by parents Leslie and Armeta Tatro and brother, Gary Tatro.
