Wayne Archie Waite's Obituary
Wayne Archie Waite was born in Lisbon, North Dakota to Ivan and Hilda Waite. He grew up on his parent’s farm raising livestock and tending fields. Because of the Great Depression he had to leave his family farm to find work. It was rough leaving but shortly thereafter he met Myrtle Margaret Mark. They married on August 13, 1936. Ten months later their first daughter, Marian Ann was born.
In 1941, Wayne moved his new family to Tacoma, Washington where he joined the Merchant Marines during World War II.
After returning home from the war, Wayne joined the Teamster’s Union, ultimately settling into a career at Harmon’s Automotive and Truck Rentals.
And along the way, Wayne’s family continued to grow with the birth of his second and third daughters Sharon Lee and Darlene Kay.
As a family man, Wayne loved spending time with his family, getting together for vacations, picnics and gatherings; barbequing, making homemade ice cream and playing cards.
As a Christian, Wayne was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served as a Deacon and usher.
As a community supporter, Wayne joined the Fraternal Order of Masons where he ascended to Master Mason and Lodge Master. Recently, Wayne was honored for his 50 Years of Service with the Masons, his masonic brethren personally presenting him with a certificate, pin and photos.
Wayne passed away in his sleep on February 21, 2016 at the age of 98.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother Hilda and his father Ivan; his wife of over 50 years Myrtle Margaret; his brothers Lorne, Percy and Clifford; his sister Shirley (Secor); his daughter Sharon Lee (Winslow); his granddaughter Debra Ann Milne; and his grandson David Wayne Payne.
