Wayne C. Skube's Obituary
Wayne Skube passed away on November 18, 2022, at his home in Edgewood, WA; cancer disrupted his life the last few years. He was born in Tacoma, WA on September 15, 1947, to Carol and Matt Skube. He was raised in Lakewood, WA growing up with his family in a home built by his father near Lake Steilacoom. He attended Clover Park High School. After graduation Wayne enlisted in the United States Army. He returned to Tacoma to begin his career in manufacturing. Wayne retired from The Boeing Company in 2011 after 31 years working as a maintenance mechanic.
Wayne and Caren O’Donnell met in 1975. They were married in 1977 and celebrated their 45th anniversary. They moved to Edgewood, WA in 1985, where they raised two children, Kayla and Brett. Wayne was very dedicated to his family, he stayed close to home, participated in his kids’ sports and activities. He especially loved his family’s annual vacations to Lake Chelan.
Wayne had a love of automobiles starting at a very young age. He was a very skilled mechanic and loved his many projects over the years. He was especially fond of British sports cars; his favorite a 1960 MGA with a powerful V8 engine he treasured his entire adult life. He and Caren were members of the MG Car Club Northwest. Wayne was very proud of his old-fashioned ways; technology only when necessary. He loved to be challenged fixing anything needing his attention. Wayne had a unique sense of humor, he loved his Skube riddles, jokes, stories to make people smile. He will be remembered for his relationships with family and friends, long conversations searching for solutions to problems and answers to questions, often just spending time talking about random topics with those he cared about.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Carol Skube, his brother, William “Bill” Skube and his son, Brett Skube. He is survived by his wife, Caren Skube, daughter, Kayla Skube, sister, Irene Barrett, nephew, Kurt Barrett.
Wayne, one of a kind, unique, sarcastic, funny, loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, friend. He will be missed and always remembered.
