Warren T. Smith Sr.'s Obituary
Warren T. Smith, Sr. was born July 13, 1949 at Madigan Army Medical Center to the late Louis J. & Charlene Smith. He is preceded in death by his wife Tina Monroe-Smith, sister, Charmaine Smith. Nephews; Michael Smith, Adrian Walker and Eric Bell. Warren entered eternal peace on March 14, 2023.
Warren attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington and graduated in 1969. After studying business at Tacoma Community College Warren decided it was time to get a job and earn money. The U.S. government which was in the middle of the Vietnam war had a different plan for him. Just weeks after leaving school he received notice and was drafted. He served as a Military Police Officer from 1970-1972 in the U.S. Army.
Warren was a manager for US West Communications (formerly Pacific Northwest Bell) from 1973-94. He was the Director of the Bethel School Board from 1986-99. National Assessment Governing Board 2007-11; Washington State School Director's Association, Past President; Washington Board of Education 2000-11, Past President; American Leadership Forum, Class III; National School Board Association; Federal Relations Network, Chair 1998; National School Board Association-Pacific Region, Chair, 1998.
Warren loved the Lord and he and his family were members of St. John Transformation Ministries (formerly St. John Baptist Church) under the leadership of Pastor Arthur Madison and the late Pastor Joseph Boles. Warren was an active Deacon until his wife Tina's health began to fail and he was needed at home to care for her.
Warren's health began to decline in 2018 and he then went to live with his brother Jimmy and his family in Maple Valley. In 2021 was placed in the highly capable care of the Green Lake Senior Living Facility in Gig Harbor.
Warren and Tina were also awesome foster parents to many boys and young men for many years.
Warren is survived by his son, Warren T. Smith, Jr., step-sons; Fredrick Monroe & Darren Monroe, brothers; Dr. James B Smith (Thadeth), Paul A. Smith (Sharlene), sister, Rosalind West. Grandchildren; Emporess Smith & Isaac Smith. Warren is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and a host of special relatives and close family friends.
