Warren Hans Christensen's Obituary
Warren Hans Christensen passed away August 5, 2016 at the age of 85. He was born In Tacoma, Washington on March 6, 1931. His parents were Walter Christensen and Ina Abrahamson both from Tacoma. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Christensen and his brother Ronald Christensen.
Warren graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U. S. Navy. Once he was discharged from the U.S. Navy, he married Lois Thorsen on May 29, 1954 in Tacoma. He attended University of Washington and graduated in 1957 with an Electrical Engineering degree and promptly moved to Silicon Valley in California. He worked at Philco Ford 18 hours a day on a satellite trying to beat Sputnik into space. His work successful helped launch the 1st U.S. Satelite Explorer into orbit January 31, 1958.
Warren and Lois never called California home. They couldn’t wait to move back to Washington, which they did in 1979. They bought a sailboat and sailed all around Puget Sound. Warren designed their retirement home on Fox Island and was happy tinkering with all sorts of projects. He could fix anything and he was always willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat.
Warren and Lois loved music and dancing. They were members of the Guns and Garters dance team and loved to dance the night away.
Warren is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Bonney (George), his son, Marc Christensen (Janet); Grandchildren, Kristin Bonney Anderson (Wes), Gregory Bonney and Eric Christensen; and great-granddaughter Parker Grace Anderson who loved to sit on Great-Papas lap and ride around on his wheelchair at Harbor Place.
We want to thank the staff at Harbor Place for all their kindness and loving care they provided to our dad. We also want to thank all of his friends for being there for him and supporting him through his final difficult years. He appreciated your kindness very much.
