Wanda Norrean Yerbury's Obituary
Wanda Norrean Yerbury
Our beloved mother, Wanda Norrean Yerbury, 92 years, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on August 7, 2018 at Tacoma Lutheran Home surrounded by her family. Mom was born on March 13, 1926 in Ardoch, North Dakota to Vernon and Anna Blake and resided in North Dakota and Minnesota in her younger years. Wanda attended high school in International Falls Minnesota, and moved in 1942 to Sausalito, CA with her family where her father took work in the shipyards during WW2. During that time, mom volunteered in the many USO canteens in the area and met many celebrities of the day. In 1945, our mother and family headed north to Tacoma, WA where she worked as a riveter’s helper for the Boeing Co. building airplanes. During that same year, she met and married our father, Robert L. Yerbury after a 3 month courtship. Their marriage lasted 66 years until his passing in 2011. Wanda is also predeceased by her mother and father, Vernon and Anna, as well as her brother Duane Blake. Wanda is survived by her four sons Bob, Tom (Donna), Al, and Ralph (Carole) all of Tacoma. Our mother also leaves behind six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a special niece and many friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 13th from 11:00AM-8:00PM at Mountain View Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, August 14th at 1:00PM at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park in the Aspen Chapel in Lakewood, WA.
Our mother loved many things, but above all, mother loved her family. Mom loved lilacs, falling snow, dancing to big band music, playing cribbage and the color lavender. Mom also loved going to Reno and Las Vegas and mom loved her Labrador dog Barney. Most of all, mom loved Christmas and all the many holidays shared with her family. She was a great mother, wife, a renowned cook and loving grandmother who never forgot a birthday of a loved one. Our mother was a beautiful woman who will forever be remembered by her loving family and friends. We are going to miss her and we will always love her. Goodbye mom, hug dad and touch the stars...Your family.
