Wanda D. Halverson's Obituary
Wanda D. Halverson, 52, a resident of Yelm, Washington, passed away Sunday, October 27th, 2002 of complications relating to a short, but courageous fight with cancer.She was born November 12, 1949 to Robert and June Bleecker in a family of six brothers and sisters in Tacoma, Washington. Only July 31, 1970, she married her best friend and soul mate, Alan Halverson. Together they raised two daughters, Tanya Renee and Neda Lynne, in a loving home. Wanda enjoyed staying at home to raise her two daughters and was actively involved in their school activities.Wanda will always be remembered for her willingness to always think of everyone else around her before herself. She enjoyed making crafts and baby quilts for others, Native American culture and history, embracing her own spirituality and beliefs, and playing with her two grandchildren, Jonathan Alan, 12 months, and Sarina Tiamara, 20 months. Wanda was preceded in death by her sister Wendy as a child and her grandmother Cynthia in 1982. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Alan Halverson, and her daughters, Tanya Zimmer of Centralia and Neda Grant of Salem, Oregon. She is also survived by her two son-in-laws, Jon Zimmer and Michael Grant and two grandchildren. She is further survived by her parents, as well as her three brothers and two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.Wanda is remembered as a compassionate and loving family member and friend and will dearly be missed. A funeral in her honor will be held on November 1st, 2002, at 10:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery in the Celebration of Life Center, Aspen Chapel, Tacoma, Washington. A graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chemotherapy Ward at Tacoma General Hospital. You will forever remain in our hearts, Wanda. We love you.
