Walter "Jack" John Coblentz's Obituary
Walter, loving know as Jack was born in Tacoma to Esther and Walter Coblentz. He passed away peacefully with family at the age of 96. He was predeceased by sisters Dorothy and Barbara.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille (Saugen) of 68 years: children, Gail (David) Alskog, Walter (Lydia), Paul (Kathy) and grandchildren, Erik, Alexandra (Dan), Adrian Garcia, Benton Coblentz.
Jack grew up in Tacoma during the Great Depression where his family ran the Coblentz Grocery in Fern Hill. He graduated from Lincoln High School before proudly serving in WWII first as an original member of the 10th Mountain Division followed by the U.S. Air Force. Before his service Jack was an avid skier on Mt. Rainier and taught skiing in New England when the sport was in its infancy. He attended Syracuse University and College of Puget Sound. He and Lucille raised their family in Federal Way.
His life’s work was as owner of Master Millwork of Tacoma which manufactured cabinets and millwork for customers throughout the Puget Sound area.
Jack lived a long and full life in his beloved Northwest, marked by his positive, kind and gentlemanly attitude to all those he met. He will be deeply missed.
