Vivian M. Cotten's Obituary
Vivian Mae Cotten died peacefully on September 24, 2019 after a day surrounded by her family. She lived in Bellevue at the care home of Carmen Elenes where she was treated like family and where her own mother, Beatrice Handy, had also lived and then died in 2007.
Vivian died just days before her 95 birthday. She was born October 5, 1924. She lived her life in Spanaway, Washington. She was raised there surrounded by Grandmothers, Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. She chose to raise her family the same way when she married her childhood sweetheart, Walter Cotten. Walter and Vivian with their daughters, Pauline and Ruth, lived within two blocks of their complete immediate family. There were two sets of grandparents for the girls, as well as two great grandmothers and two families of cousins, aunts and uncles. Vivian imprinted those happy, close knit years on her life and until her last day fondly recalled Spanaway. Those who knew her well may believe she equated Heaven and Spanaway, as that was where she wanted to go.
Vivian is survived by her two daughters and their families. Pauline Cotten and Tony Black with sons, Noah and Teddy; Ruth and Bruce Burwell with their children, Julia and Nathan. Ella Kingsley Black is her great-grandchild.
