Virginia B. Reiter's Obituary
Virginia B. Reiter, 80, of Tacoma, Washington fell asleep in the Lord on July 1, 2020. Virginia was born on August 13, 1939 in Billings, Montana. Early in Virginia’s life, her family moved to eastern Washington where she grew up on a cattle ranch. As a child, Virginia enjoyed all that ranch life offered: the animals, the countryside, and fishing in the ranch’s creek. In addition, even though she was not the eldest child, Virginia cared for her two brothers and three sisters when her parents had to be away overnight on ranch business.
With adulthood, Virginia continued to care for others and became a nurse; she practiced at St. Joseph Hospital and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma and at Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah. She enjoyed helping her patients, especially the children. Virginia practiced Christ’s love for all in her relations with her fellow caregivers and with her neighbors.
Virginia’s love for others and self-sacrifice grew when she traded her nursing career for what she considered the high calling of wife and mother. Meals were home cooked, for her husband support of his business was given, for her children beautiful dresses and handsome shirts were sewn, sleep was forfeited when nursing care was given to children with the flu or a cold, and all the other things that meant “Mommy” she did; the list is too long.
Virginia’s husband said she was the best thing that ever happened to him. And when she was sick in old age; her bed was surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that loved and honored her.
May her memory be eternal.
