Virginia M Taft
Virginia Maxine (Walter) Taft was born on January 2, 1924 in Marion, Iowa and peacefully departed this life Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at Merrill Gardens in Tacoma, Washington. Her parents, Max R and Jewel E Walter, moved to Mineral, Washington in 1925 and then subsequently to Tacoma, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. Virginia worked at the Rialto Theater after graduation and during the war years. She married Verlyn (Vern) Taft on December 20, 1952 and was a devoted wife and partner to him for the next 44 years. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, and her only sister, Phyllis Lockwood. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Lantaff, her beloved grandchildren, Jake Lantaff and Sarah Lantaff, her nephew, David Lockwood and great-niece, Christina Lockwood. At her request, there will be no service. Special and heartfelt thanks from her family go to Shirley Lane and her wonderful staff of caregivers at Merrill Gardens, Tacoma and to all the "angels" of Franciscan Hospice who helped her pass from this world to the next with peace and serenity.
