Virginia M. Jacobsen's Obituary
Virginia M. Jacobsen, -Å"Nina-, born 9/22/1918 in Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully in her sleep on 03/18/2010. Virginia was married to her childhood sweetheart, George, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. The first home they shared was in South Tacoma, built with the assistance of her husband. In 1972, Virginia and George relocated to Purdy where they lived until 2001 when they moved to Lakewood to be closer to their daughter, Susan. During Virginia's lifetime she held various jobs and retired from Schwarz, Shera & Assoc. Virginia was proud of her Scandinavian heritage, reflected in her love of preparing traditional food for family and friends. She was a -Å"Rabid Dawg- fan and she and George were long-time Husky football season ticket holders. In addition, Virginia had a great love for animals, which included several small dogs. She and George traveled the West coast with a favorite stopping place being Cannon Beach, Oregon. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, George, and devoted daughter Susan. She was predeceased by parents Hjalmer and Betsy Johnson and son, Robert Jacobsen. In addition, she will be missed by sisters, Gloria Northrup and Grace Squire of California, grandsons Eric (Heather) Jacobsen and Jeff Fisher, also of California as well as two great grandchildren, Annika and Beck Jacobsen. A special thanks to Virginia's wonderful caregivers, Karen Worthy, Wanda Fraser and Dawn Dobbs. Services are Monday, 3/22/2010, 11:00 am, Our Savior Lutheran Church, 4519 112th St E, with reception following at the home of Susan Jacobsen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pierce County Humane Society or your favorite charity.
