Virginia Louise Wulfestieg's Obituary
Virginia Louise Wulfestieg joined her Lord October 13, 2003 after suffering a catastrophic fall on October 7. She was born in Long Beach, CA July 17, 1917 and resided in Tacoma, WA with her husband, Carl Wulfestieg, Sr.Virginia was very active in Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Gate, CA for over 30 years, and then in Lutheran churches in Anaheim and Fair Oaks, CA, and Tacoma, WA.She was wholly devoted to Lutheran Braille Workers (LBW) from the time of its origin until her death, serving as Vice President then President for more than 60 years. Virginia touched many people worldwide through her work with LBW, which distributes free Bibles, Christian stories, and Bible lessons to the visually impaired in more than 39 countries and as many languages, published in Braille and large print. Virginia was also extremely involved in Lutheran Women's Missionary League for many years, was named "Los Angeles County School District Woman of the Year" in 1961, and was listed in Who's Who in American Women.Virginia was most proud of her four children, Carl, Jr. (Sue), Ellen Sheriff (Roy), Paul (Becky) of Tacoma and John of Sacramento, CA.Virginia is survived by her husband, Carl, her brother, John Long (Roberta), her four children, eight grandchildren (Stefanie, Kara, Brian, Andy, Kristin, Amy, Kimberly and Tim) and 5 great-grandchildren.
