Virginia Corpuz Alano's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the death of Virginia Corpuz Alano. Known as "Janet" to close friends and family, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Virginia was born in Camiling Tarlac, Philippines to Gregorio and Carmen Corpuz, the third of ten children. She married Nicanor Alano in Batangas, Philippines in 1958, immigrated with the family to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1965, and then settled in Lakewood, WA in 1969. She also lived in Frankfurt, Germany from 1982 until the death of her husband in 1986, then returning back to the family home in Lakewood. She was an active member of the Filipino and Catholic communities, and enjoyed hobbies such as cooking, sewing, gardening, playing mahjong, singing with her friends, and working out at the gym. She is survived by her six children, Violeta Strash of Sammamish, WA, Ceilita Thornburgh of Fullerton, CA, Arnel Alano of Clifton, NJ, Lester Alano of Puyallup, WA, Archie Alano of Simi Valley, CA, and Theodore Alano of New York, NY, along with 6 grandsons, 3 sisters, and 6 brothers in the Philippines. There will be a viewing from 11am-9pm on Thursday, Aug. 5th at Mountain View Funeral Home, along with a 7pm Rosary. There will be another Rosary at 10am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11am, on Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Lakewood, WA, concluding with entombment services at Mountain View Funeral Home.
