Virginia Cartwright Mathis' Obituary
A longtime resident of Tacoma passed away April 9, 2004 at the age of 88. Born in Seattle on Aug. 8, 1915 to William J. and Mary A. Curran. She was preceded in death by her sister Marge Sullivan; brother William Curran; sons, Jim Cartwright, and George Mathis; and great-grandson Kyle Cartwright. She is survived by sons: John (Carolyn) Cartwright, and Jerry (Debbie) Cartwright; daughter-in-law Alice Cartwright; grandchildren: Jimmy Cartwright, Laura (Clay) Harris, Wade (Julia) Cartwright, Mike (Tina) Cartwright, Norman Cartwright, Jeff Goerger, Jodi (Hal) Larson, and 5 great-grandchildren.Virginia was raised in Burien, and the Rainier Valley area attending Catholic Schools. She worked for Washington Steel Products in Tacoma, and at Boeing in Auburn until retiring at age 65. Her greatest joys were her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, and shopping after retirement. She cared deeply for all those who touched her very loving heart and will be greatly missed but not forgotten.A memorial service will be held in the Mt. View Garden Chapel on May 8, 2004 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary Bridge ChildrenÂ's Hospital, her favorite charity.
