Virginia Mae Bennett's Obituary
In loving memory of Virginia Mae Bennett who passed away on November 27, 2024 at the age of 95. Virginia was born to Clarence and Marjorie Michelson in Lake City, Washington. She attended Lake City elementary and Clover Park high school. There she met her future husband Richard Bennett, (who conveniently lived next door), and were married in 1947. Together they built their home just down the road and were together for 62 years. They raised three children, Larry, Kent and Linda. Virginia (Mom) was highly dedicated to her family. Experiencing the great depression and World War II, she made sure there was plenty of food on the table, and that the house was always filled with love, patience and laughter. Not only did she work tirelessly at home, but was able to help support the family with jobs at Nalley Valley, National Biscuit Company and many years at Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center where she was Director of Housekeeping, a job she relished. Virginia loved working in her garden and a trip to visit always included a walk around the yard to see her Iris, Dahlias, Roses, Peonies and much more. The grandkids couldn’t wait to visit for the hugs and smiles, the smorgasbord of food she always had prepared, and a chance to play in Grandpa and Grandma’s swimming pool. Great memories that are being carried forward by all the family generations.
In later years, she not only kept up with the coming and goings of her extended family, but also supported her husband Richard through his journey with diabetes and Kidney dialysis.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents, brothers Martin and Gene, her sister Lorine and granddaughter Kaylie Bennett.
She is survived by her children Larry, Kent and Linda, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Thank you Mom for all that you gave and the love we always felt, a legacy of love you leave behind.
The family would also like to extend their thanks and love to Lily Ortix and the staff at Caring Arms Two who cared for Virginia with love and devotion for many years.
Services for Virginia will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, December 21st at 1:00pm.
