Virgil F Nelson's Obituary
Virgil F. Nelson Was born July 14, 1915 in Atwater, Minnesota to Ninus and Augusta Nelson.
He passed away on March 17, 2013 in Port Orchard, WA. He was the youngest of nine children; four brothers and four sisters. Virgil married Mildred Stewart in 1939 and they enjoyed raising their family that included three sons, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Virgil worked hard and lived life to the fullest; he enjoyed a good laugh, a good time and always had time for this family and friends. He also loved to travel, work in his yard, and most of all camping at Lake Trask, Mason County. Virgil served during World War II in the United States Navy. He later worked for Burlington Northern Railway for 30 years where he retired in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, wife Mildred of 67 years, son Randy, sister-in-law Helen Blake, brother-in-law Frank Blake, brother-in-law Roland Stewart, sister-in-law Vi Stewart, great nephew Paul Akins and many, many dear friends. He leaves behind his oldest son Gary (Jan), daughter-in-law Judy, youngest son Rod (Susie),grandchildren Jeff, Joel, Sean (Tammy), Jill, Jacque, and Ryan as well as thirteen great- grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM (viewing 10:00 AM) at Mountain View Memorial Park in The Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom BLvd, Lakewood, WA. Reception to follow immediately after the service.
