Virgil Andrew Mattson

Virgil Andrew Mattson was born October 12, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His family moved to Chelan, Washington when he was 12 years old and he graduated from Chelan High School. He received his teaching degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham and started teaching at Ford Junior High in the Franklin Pierce School District. He went on to receive his Masters Degree in school administration from UPS. After 30 years of teaching math and science at Ford, he retired to his farm in Eatonville.
His wife of 42 years, Alice, his son, Robert and wife Karin, and grandchildren, Nicole and Connor, and sister Verlyn and husband, Walter, survives him. His parents, his sister Marianne, and brother Andy predeceased him.
He was always a kind and gentle man and will be missed by family, friends, and thousands of former students.
