Violet Vera York's Obituary
Violet Vera York (Jenkins) passed away peacefully in Puyallup, WA at the age of 102. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles York, partner Robert Isham, daughter Judy Callen and grandson Thomas Templeman. She was born in 1923 to Lucy Martha Lukowski and William John Jenkins. Violet was raised with her three brothers on a ranch in Klein, MT. She graduated from Klein HS in 1941 and attended for a year Eastern Montana Normal School (teaching college) now MSU Billings. She moved to Seattle in 1942, working for Boeing during WWII. While attending college she worked at a bakery, after the war she continued with that vocation for a number of years in Seattle. The family moved to Lakewood, WA in 1959 where she raised 2 children. Preceding her husbands death in 1975, she attended Clover Park Technical College to acquire basic business skills. She worked for Fife School District as an office assistant and later becoming a teachers aid. She enjoyed working for many years with Title One kids. She started playing golf right after her retirement at the age of 65. Golf became her passion, she participated in many tournaments around the Puget Sound Region. She was very proud of getting a hole-in-one at the age of 70. She lived her retirement years in Graham ,WA where she loved attending to her garden.
Violet is survived by her son David York (Gail), grandson Mike Templeman (Kelly), granddaughter Heather Dunger (Brandin), 7 great grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
