Violet Agnes Weber
Violet passed away quietly Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at age 88. Violet was born in Kennewick, Washington January 21, 1923, the last of six children to the late Joseph Shula and Jennie Margaret Shula, nee Wrbik. She attended River View School (Finley-Hover) and graduated with the class of 1940 with honors. She attended Victor Beauty School in Walla Walla and worked as manager and operator at the House of Hogan Beauty Shop in Pasco. After meeting her husband George she moved to Tacoma in January 1943 to help in the war effort as a key punch operator at the Mt. Rainier Ordinance Depot. She missed her vocation so she opened, owned and operated the Parkland Beauty Shop until she married and started her family. She had many talents. She volunteered graciously in Girl Scouts, Campfire girls, PTA, and room mother as her daughters attended McKinley grade school. She was elected to the Voters Hall of Fame in Pierce County for her 60 years of voting. She shared her many hobbies and crafts as well as playing the organ with her family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine A. Thomas (Paul), Janet S. Walsh (James), and Donna L. Willis (Dale), seven precious grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jennie Winkler and Erma Cherry, two nieces, and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband George, sister Rose A. Shula, two brothers, Joseph and James Shula, and great-granddaughter Rebekah Walsh.
