Violet Grace Mesler's Obituary
Violet Grace Mesler Age 88, went to be with the Lord Jan. 20. She was born in Tacoma June 2, 1921. Important to Vi were her faith, husband Burg, her family, and helping others. Vi was a devoted wife for 67 years. They had 5 children: Roy (Bev), Susan Konsmo, Ruth Pierce (Steve), Becky Nelson (Chris), and Donald. She was very proud of her 11 grandchildren: Jim Konsmo, Shelly Thorlakson, Laurine Decker, Autumn Smith, Stephen Mesler, Christy Lovrak, Sarah McGhinnis, Mike Pierce, and Bryce, Kent and Laura Nelson. She had 22 great-grandchildren. Vi loved to serve others, whether with her family planning a birthday party, helping at First Presbyterian Church, taking her date muffins to shut-ins, or working as a secretary in Clover Park schools. Many things made Vi special to family and friends, including homemade pies, dinner guests, knitted sweaters, waffle breakfasts, handmade bathrobes and bears, camping trips, long walks, trips to Victoria, biking and hiking, visits to Camp McCullough, and babysitting grandchildren. Vi was preceded in death by son Donald, brothers Chet and Merle (Rosie) Palmer, son-in-law Marshal, and grandson Bryce. A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church, Tacoma. Contributions may be made to the Tacoma Rescue Mission.
