Violet E. Redford's Obituary
Violet E. RedfordViolet E. Redford, 88, passed away June 9, 2003; she was born in Tacoma on September 2, 1914. Violet was the last surviving of four siblings. Her mother and father came from Sweden to Tacoma in 1898. Vi enjoyed making these Swedish traditions a part of her own family. Vi attended Stadium High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Don Redford. They operated Redford Septic Tank Cleaning for 20 years. Living in the Fern Hill district, they were members of the Fern Hill Methodist Church for 40 years where Â"ViÂ" was treasurer and bookkeeper for 10 years.Friendships were very important to her. She also enjoyed her many friends at the Tahoma Terrace. Violet attended Town Hall meetings, Twins ball games and in the last few years loved the Mariners. She was a member of VASA Â"Swedish Org.,Â" an active Bridge Club member and she loved her Garden Club. Surviving is son, Arthur and wife, Dallas Redford of Gig Harbor; daughter, Lorraine and husband, Jeff Flynn of San Diego; grandchildren, Stephen and Kristine Redford of Gig Harbor, Shannon and John Burkhalter of Kirkland and Nicola and Brett Norris of Redmond; six great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Gagnon. Vi was as proud of her family as they were of her.Memorial services will be held Friday, June 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Fern Hill Methodist Church, 501 So. 84th, Tacoma.
