So many of the things I've enjoyed in my life can be traced to my Aunti Vi.
There are too many memories of Hood Canal to list. But I'll always be grateful for the times she invited me to stay with her when I was too young to stay there by myself. I spent my days exploring and learning and checking in. (A lot of checking in.)
She helped me learn pinochle. (And filled her orange fish with my quarters and dimes.) I always looked forward to the big card games with family and friends. She loved to joke and laugh and I loved to watch her enjoying life. (And take others quarters and dimes.)
She loved her family but sometimes had difficulty expressing that. It was clear though in her voice when she talked about her kids, grandkids, brothers, parents, even her "favorite nephew". She always wanted the best for everyone and struggled with decisions made at times, but those struggles came out of love in her heart.
She struggled with her health and I'm grateful those struggles have ended. I'll miss her for the reasons above and more. But I know she is whipping things in to shape for us when we enter our next chapter. WHO SAID 25?
