Violet Lorraine Bruno's Obituary
Our mother, Violet Lorraine (Hessey) Bruno, was born March 12, 1926 near Alki Beach, Seattle, Washington. Her parents, Randolph Eugene Hessey and Sarah Caroline (Chesterfield) Hessey eventually moved to Tacoma, Washington where they opened a radio and T.V. repair service on 6th Avenue in the 1930's. Mom graduated from Stadium High School in 1944 and then went on to the University of Puget Sound.
During WWII mom worked as "Rosy the Riveter" on Boeing airplanes. After the war the travel bug took hold of her, and with friends drove to Northern California. In Alturas she worked as a switchboard operated where she met Frank Bruno, a policeman. She and Frank married and moved to Tacoma in 1947. They had 4 children.
Mother eventually went back to work, holding various jobs, the last as secretary to the ROTC Adjutant General from which she retired after 20 yrs. She was also a volunteer at Discovery Shop and at Seaport. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and caring for her cats.
Our mother passed away peacefully on September 27, 2022 at the age of 96 yrs. She will be missed.
Mom is survived by her children: Carolyn Marie Bruno Yabui of Kirkland, WA, Daniel Frank Bruno of Fox Island, WA, Teresa Lee (Bruno) DeLorenzo of Fircrest, WA and Scottia Elise (Bruno) Johnston of Tacoma, WA, along with 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Arrangements were made for inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery.
