Vhanesta Roberts' Obituary
Vhanesta Roberts was born Vhanesta Vaughn on August 19th, 1938 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma to Walter Vaughn Sr. and Leona Vaughn (preceded her in death). Being 1 of 10 children, she and her family moved to Everett, WA in 1951, and then to Seattle, WA in 1953. She loved her siblings. Many can remember the laughs, stories, and pictures through the years as they grew and shared love from one to another. She loved getting together with her family at the annual picnic where she’d see how much the family had grown. She believed that God’s faithfulness was ever-present through the years and the health and love of her family was a beautiful example of His faithfulness towards us.
In 1954, Vhanesta married Wamon Roberts of St. Augustine, Texas (preceded her in death). They were married 46 years and 11 children were added to their union. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved cooking and singing around the house. Her home was a place of music and activities with so many children and she enjoyed hearing them all play various instruments, while she too played the piano and sang beautifully.
Vhanesta can be described as a faithful spirit who had love for everyone she met. She was a worker in the vineyard for the Lord and lived a life devoted to service. She enjoyed putting on Easter and Christmas plays with the children and youth at her church, sharing her beautiful voice and other gifts at local churches, and proclaiming the goodness of the Lord to all who would hear it. She was a member of Wilkenson St. Pentecostal Church for many years, Thelma Young, Pastor. Her faith was the center of her life and everywhere she went people could see the beautiful spirit and loving nature she embodied. Vhanesta retired from the Red Cross where she was a Meal Site Manager after many years. She also worked at various nursing homes in food services sharing love through food. She always found a way to encourage the hearts of her friends, coworkers and family whom she loved very much. Vhanesta will be greatly missed by all. Her life and ministry will live on through all she touched and encouraged. Vhanesta is preceded in death by 4 children: Alvin, Ronald (Kevin), Wayne (Kenneth) and Lynette (Patrice). Proverbs 31:25-29 (NIV)
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
