Vergel A. Lorenz, 62, passed away July 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 3:00 pm at Mountain View Memorial Park, Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA. Ph. 253-584-0252. Family and Friends welcome.
Vergel was born December 26, 1946 in Lemmon, South Dakota to Edward and Elma Miller Lorenz.He is survived by his parents, Ed and Elma, his wife Diana, his daughters Michelle and Stacey, his step-son Tony, his sisters Darlene, Tracy and Donna, his brother, DuWayne, his step-son, Walter, his grandson Gauge, his step-granddaughterCheyenne, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins and so many others too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Taylor.
Vergel served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War,
enlisting at the age of 17. He worked at Tacoma Steel as a steel cutter, computer machinery operator, and all-around plant maintenance until his retirement
last year.
Vergel lost his battle against prostate cancer, after a long, hard and courageous fight. Despite his pain and hardship, he rode his Harley as often and as far as he could. His family is positive he is now riding a Harley in Heaven, his just reward.
