Vella A. Boyles' Obituary
We lost our beloved mother on April 9th. She was born in 1911 at Portland, OR and would have celebrated her 95th birthday on September 19th. She lived her early years in Portland and moved to Tacoma in 1934. In 1936 she met the love of her life, Ronald Boyles, and one year later they were married. After raising three children she went back to school in 1955, graduating from CPS (UPS) in 1958. She went on to teach for 20 years at Hunt Jr. High and Stadium H.S.Vella had a wonderful life, teaching, traveling and playing bridge with her good friends. She was very courageous in suffering the loss of her son, Steve in 1975 and her husband, Ron in 1985. She was known for her resilience and went on to enjoy life at every opportunity. She loved her extended family, both here in Washington and Oregon.Vella was a loving, generous and very kind person. Everyone who knew her always said what a brilliant and lovely person she was. Her passing is our terrible loss, but we will try and follow her example of courage and energy.Vella is survived by her loving children, son Jim Boyles, and wife Danna Behne and daughter Pam Boyles and husband Roger (Rocky) Johnson. The family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospital and the Franciscan Hospice House in University Place for their loving, gentle and compassionate care during her brief illness.Graveside services will be at 11:30AM, Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family asks that remembrances be made to the Stephen J. Boyles scholarship fund at Whitman College or Franciscan Hospice House, University Place.
