Velda Jean Grimsey's Obituary
Velda Jean Grimsey, 80, passed away September 1, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Edgewood, IL, October 6, 1931. Jean lived in Illinois, Indiana, Germany and France before settling in Tacoma Washington in 1960.
Jean was a hard-working woman who retired after 30 years of cooking for Doctors Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital. She loved sewing, reading and embroidery. Jean was an active member of Sunset Bible Church, where she served faithfully in whatever capacity her health allowed.
Her husband, James C. Grimsey and a granddaughter, Rebecca C. Miller, preceded Jean in death. Survivors include her children: Jackie Lee, James Grimsey Jr., Linda Bromm, Cynthia Nelson (Dennis), Lisa Townsend and Jeannie Hughes; grandchildren: James Grimsey III (Crystal), William Nelson (Jill), Mark Lee, Wendy Turner (Vic), Hilary Sotomish (Gary), Elizabeth Nelson, Colvin, Steven, Aaron and Amileigh Hughes; great-grandchildren: Chevalier Lee, Alexandria Guihan (Joshua), Zarek, Payton and Keirah Turner, Tryston Rockwell, Lydon Galligan, Alexander Sotomish, Ella and Jack Nelson.
Jean also left numerous friends and extended family members behind. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity and caring nature.
A reception to celebrate Jean's life will be held immediately following the service at Sunset Bible Church: 7920 44th Street West in University Place.
