Vallory Fletcher's Obituary
Vallory Fletcher, 91, of Des Moines passed away April 25, 2015. She had been a resident of Wesley Homes Health Center for almost two years. She was preceded in death by her husband James Fletcher, her son Robert Matchett and her stepdaughter Sandee Paris. Those surviving her include son James Matchett of Lakewood, WA, daughter-in-law Cathy Matchett of Phoenix AZ, and three granddaughters, Leanna Archambault of Phoenix, Maureen Stoll of St. Louis, MO and Emily Guadamuz of Silverdale, along with stepsons Ken Fletcher and Richard Fletcher, a sister, Ardath Rock of Puyallup and a brother, Barry Boyden of Sandpoint, ID. A graduate of Arlington High School, Vallory lived for many years in Ephrata, where she worked at the State Highway Department. There she met and married James, and together they raised a family of five children. After retirement, they moved to Wenatchee and then to Moses Lake, where they managed a mobile home park called Peninsula Estates. After the death of her husband, Vallory lived with Cathy Matchett in Vacaville, CA and Glendale, AZ, before moving to Des Moines in 2013. Her life-long hobby was stamp collecting. She was also a strong believer in the Christian faith, sending out tracks to people around the world she traded stamps with and contributing regularly to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. A memorial will be held at the Abundant Life Church, located at 5219 111th St Lakewood, WA 98499, on Saturday, May 23. It will start at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a potluck lunch. Those wishing to send flowers should do so on that Saturday, May 23, between 8:30 and 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Her ashes will be placed in a wall next to her husband at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake.
