Triple Chief Okezie Okonkwo Imo's Obituary
The light and power of Triple Chief Okezie Okonkwo Imo, P.E., husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, and godfather has sadly extinguished.
Our warm and giving leader, legend and friend Chief Imo provided support for 35 years (1981-2016) at Tacoma Public Utilities as the 1st Black engineer at Tacoma Power. As a testament to his loyalty and commitment, this was his first and only professional job.
Like a complex power grid, Chief Imo connected and served his community with his positive attitude and willingness to help anyone. There was no language barrier as he always spoke from his heart. He leaves behind a reputation of a man of integrity and humility, hard worker, boss and believer in God.
He was a Member of Akanu Ohafia USA’s Northwest chapter, Founder & Premiere President of Igbo Union of Washington State (IUOWS), Former President of Nigerian Club International (NCI) , Chairman of the Board of Directors, Igbo Union of Washington State, Loan Executive to United Way of Pierce County from Tacoma Public Utilities, and Leader of the Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (Mesa) Program.
As we prepare his funeral arrangements, many of you have reached out to ask how you can help during this time. We kindly ask and would appreciate donations towards the funeral service to celebrate Triple Chief Okezie Okonkwo Imo’s life and to support in costs for his transportation home.
Updates on the funeral service and celebration of life will be forthcoming.
