Tony Anderson's Obituary
Tony Anderson, born July 2, 1910 to George M. and Eva R. Anderson, passed away on October 2, 2004.Tony was preceded in death by his wife Mable Anderson; sisters Sadie Bowman, and Neillile Scott; and brother W. Warren Anderson. Tony was survived by daughter Roena; nieces Joan Stone, Janice Rassan, and Susan Hicks; nephews Gary W. Scott and Vernon Baughman.Tony was a life member of the Elks Lodge #174 and the National Rifle Assoc.; and a life member of the American Legion, and the First Presbyterian Church of Tacoma.Tony was 18 years old when he joined the Army and was stationed at Camp Murray, Fort Lewis (24th Cavalry Division), where he reached the rank of Sergeant. He served in WWII in the Pacific on the USS Lunga Point CVE94, where he received the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon with star and four other awards.Tony also owned and operated his Thriftway grocery store in downtown Tacoma for many years.Visitation will be held at Mt View Funeral Home on Thursday, October 7, 2004 from 11:00 am until the graveside service at 12:30 pm.
