Tommy Wayne Johnson
A beloved Husband, Father, and Opa entered heaven December 15, 2009. Tom was born on December 13, 1934 in Amarillo, Texas and grew up in California. He served over 20 years in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Maria. They had three wonderful children, which led to two special grand daughters. In 1968 he settled in Steilacoom, and after his retirement from the Army, worked for the Steilacoom school district for several years. He lived a full life filled with work, travel, woodcrafts, stamp collecting, and jigsaw puzzles. He was the first on his side of the family to earn a college degree. Tom was preceded in death by his youngest son, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria, his son Edward Johnson residing in Germany, daughter Michelle Rudy and son-in-law Gerald Rudy, and his grand daughters Ren and Samantha, all of the Tacoma area. Tom was laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery. As a lover of dogs, Tom would appreciate donations to the Pierce County Humane Society.
