Tomara D. Alston's Obituary
Tomara Denise Alston had a warm smile, she loved to laugh and she always
had time to listen and pray with friends & family.
Tomara departed this earthly life, peacefully on July 11, 2023 after a 14
year battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) at the age of 69. She was
born on February 7, 1954 to the late Thomas Alston & Ruth Suafoa in
Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up all over (Maryland, France, Hawaii, Ohio,
Washington & Oklahoma) due to her Step-Father, Kose Suafoa who was in
the US Army. This may be how Tomara developed a passion for traveling
and moving! She graduated from Lawton Senior High School in Lawton,
Oklahoma in 1972 and graduated with honors from the International Air
Academy in 1992. Tomara became a mother on December 29, 1977 to her
son Shawn Avery Alston; one of the happiest moments in her life. She took
pride In raising him and cherished the many memories they made together
Tomara held many administrative positions from 1981 to 2020 at
Comprehensive Mental Health Center; Tacoma Community College; Seattle
Central College and We The People Law Office. Tomara was a devout
Jehovah's Witness since 1981 and dedicated her life to serving Jehovah!
She is survived by her son, Shawn Alston, 4 grandchildren: Angelique (Josh
Merari; Thomas (Kata); Ishana and 3 great-grandchildren: Elijah James;
Emmalani Aubre'lle; Le'ona Saile; her mother Ruth, siblings: Merle (Katsue
Lorain (Ray); Lita (Viliamu); Rumina; Sila (Tupou); Becky (Melvin); Kose Jr
(Shannon). AIso 10 Nieces, 17 Nephews and 42 great-nieces and nephews
Preceding her in death: her father, Tom Alston, Stepfather, Kose Suafoa,
Sister, Maria Suafoa, Niece, Carissa Glenister and Nephew, lsaia Manaea
