Thomas Richard Hayes Tom was born July 5, 1926 at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma, and passed from this life January 30, 2012 at Allenmore Hospital. His parents Richard and Mabel Edgar Hayes, sisters Mabel Smith & Norma Nergaard and son Richard preceded him in death. Tom graduated from Stadium High school, was a US Navy veteran of WWII, a firefighter, a telephone man. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and digging geoducks. In his later life he fought tirelessly against the proliferation of guns and nuclear weapons. He loved to sing, was a self-proclaimed curmudgeon and enjoyed a good argument. Some say he was audacious. He loved animals perhaps more than people and supported many animal shelters. Burial at Tahoma National Cemetery. Please join his family for a Celebration of Life, Wells Hall at Christ Episcopal Church, Tacoma, Wed., Feb. 8, 5 PM.
