Thomas Edward Mayo's Obituary
‘Tom’ to friends; ‘Ed’ to family. He left the arms of his family on Sunday, January 29 2017 and went into the arms of his Lord. He was born February 12 1929 in Etowah Co. Alabama to Samael Fate & Era I. Mayo.
As soon as he was old enough he joined the Army Air Corps, was sent to McChord Field and worked at the Crash Station. After his enlistment he worked his way up through the Fire Dept. at Ft Lewis and retired in 1979 as Assistant Chief.
He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 57 years, Ellen. He is survived by 3 children; Rita (Ted) Filler, Michael Mayo & Donna (Jim) Hills, 10 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson, and his longtime friend Ginny Vian.
In Dad’s spare time he enjoying hunting, fishing, building houses and creating fun projects in his woodshop. His quick smile, love of a good game or a practical joke and the hours of spinning tales will be greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM February 18th at the Garden Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood WA. Family and friends kindly invited.
