Thomas G. Taylor's Obituary
Thomas G. Taylor died peacefully at his home of 53 years. He was 87 years old.Tom Sr. was born on August23rd, 1917. Tom, his older sister and parents moved every two years. His father, Roger Taylor, was an executive with the Northern Pacific Railroad. His mother, Susan Heinz Taylor was a homemaker.Tom graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and attended the University of Washington. He entered the insurance business at the age of 20. In 1937 he started his own agency, Tom Taylor Insurance as an independent broker. He practiced insurance for over 60 years.During his insurance career he served as a broker for the City of TacomaÂ's insurance program and employee benefits program. He was a former board member of the Tacoma Area Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of the Pierce County Agents Association and a 50 year member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington.TomÂ's first and foremost concern was for his wife, Eleanor and their three children. He served as leader of his sonsÂ' Boy Scout Troop. Tom Sr. and his family enjoyed many summers trailer camping at Hoods Canal. The family spent several summers on Vashon Island boating. He was an enthusiastic water and snow skier. Eleanor and Tom enjoyed golfing and dancing. They were members of the Stardust Dance Club for many years.Tom Sr. will always be remembered as a gentleman with a positive attitude and a wonderful sense of humor.Tom Sr. is survived by his loving wife, their three children; Tom Taylor Jr. (Jackie), Janie Corl (Rob), and Tim Taylor (Oahn), and 4 grandchildren; Mimi, Robyn, Beth, and ReneeÂ'.The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to:AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON223 TACOMA AVE.
