Thomas Frederick McClure beloved husband of Dori Jean McClure was called home unexpectedly May 9, 2012. Tom was born May 13, 1946 in Des Moines, IA. to John Howard and Alice Jeanne McClure.
Thomas is survived by his mother, Alice Jeanne McClure of Decatur, IN; brother John and his wife Sally McClure of Lenexa, KS; brother Larry and his wife MaryBeth McClure of Signal Mountain, TN; sister Claudia and husband John Schueler of Decatur, IN; Tom was also a beloved Uncle to 23 nieces and nephews.
Tom graduated from Dowling High School, Des Moines, IA in 1964. He then attended Regis College in Denver, Co and received a BS in 1968. From 1968 to 1970, Tom served in the US Army stationed at the Pentagon. He was honorably discharged. Before his career in transportation Tom was a buyer for jewelry and women's apparel. In the late 70's, Ligon Transportation was Tom's first encounter with the transportation world. In 1981 Tom joined the Mercer Transportation family as a manager of truck operations in Louisville, KY. Tom began self-employment in 1989 as an exclusive sales agent for Mercer Transportation in Seattle, WA.
Tom is indescribable!!!! We could talk about him forever, but we will keep it simple stupid (KISS) as Tom would always say-¦ As we all know, Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and made sure everyone around him was included. One of Tom's final unselfish acts was that he was an organ donor.
Tom, in your new found peace, please continue to watch over us. We miss your caring ways, your warm generous laugh and your sense of humor that only those who truly love you would understand.
Our loss is God's gain.
