Thomas Carothers' Obituary
Sixty-six years old, a lifelong resident of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully June 1, 2010. Tom was born to his parents Elmer and Betty on November 17, 1943 at St. Joseph's hospital in Tacoma.
Tom is survived by his mother Betty Brenzel of Tacoma, the father who raised him, Dale Brenzel of Tacoma, three children, Cynthia Seamon of Tacoma, Shane Roberson (Kristen) of Packwood, WA, and Robert Otwell Jr. (Diana) of Tracy, CA, sister Linda Windley of Tacoma, 10 grandchildren, Amber Seamon, Autumn and Ricky Estrada, Adam Brown, Kayla Blake (Evan), J.D. (Kathy), Skyler and Merrit Richardson - Roberson, Chloe' and Hunter Otwell, 8 great grandchildren, 1 niece, 2 great-nephews, his great friend Patricia Otwell, as well as many other family members and great friends throughout the Tacoma area. Tom was preceded in death by his biological father, Elmer Carothers, and his son Thomas James Carothers.
In Tom's young adulthood, he thoroughly enjoyed countless fishing and camping trips with his family and friends. For most of Tom's career, he worked for Atlas Castings and Technology Foundry. After 42 years of employment with Atlas, Tom retired in 2007. Tom always had impeccable work ethics, which he always attempted to teach and instill in everyone he came in contact with. In Tom's retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the local casinos, being an avid gardener, talented craftsman, and creative woodworker, building numerous projects that will be treasured by family and friends for generations to come. He will be greatly missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial barbecue to celebrate his life on Saturday June 26, 2010 from 1-4 pm at 10211 18th Ave. S. Tacoma, 98444. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County in celebration of Tom's and his dog Suzie Q's lives.
