Thelma E. Simpson's Obituary
Thelma Simpson, (née Becklund) died peacefully at home on August 22, 2016 in Lakewood, Washington at the age of 90.
Thelma is survived by her children, Sherry Stanger, Julie (Rob) Webb, Mike (Marlene) Simpson, Sandy (Avery) Johnson, Sister Barbara (John) Windh, and her best friend, Sunnie Harman. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Simpson.
Thelma was born on March 17, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington to Wilford and Hedvig Becklund. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. She married Bob, her high school sweetheart, in 1943.
Over the next 15 years, the couple welcomed four children into their home on Steilacoom Lake, where the family, friends and neighbors enjoyed swimming and water skiing. Her children remember Thelma as an excellent cook, seamstress, and a kind, generous and loving mom.
Thelma was accomplished at accounting and loved antique furniture and was passionate about her children, grand-children (11) and great-grandchildren (19). The family would like to thank the many friends and family who came to visit her at her home. She loved Jesus and prayed for all her family members daily.
A Celebration of Life for Thelma is scheduled for 3:00-5:00 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home Oak Room on Wednesday August 31, 2016. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Thelma’s life.
