Thelma L Emanuel's Obituary
Thelma Laverne Wheeler Emanuel of Tacoma, Washington was born November 17, 1953 in Ellaville, Georgia to Richard and Jane Black.
She received her education at Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Joseph High School and Morris Brown College. She was united in marriage to Ronald Anthony Wheeler and from that union they were blessed with a son. As life would happen, they eventually moved to Tacoma, Washington and a new life where Thelma met and married Michael Emanuel and they had a beautiful daughter. Thelma worked tirelessly for 30+ years for Western State Hospital and Albertson’s where she was looking forward to retiring and spending more time relaxing and traveling. Thelma enjoyed both of her jobs and the opportunities they gave her to interact with her community. She served her country in the United States Army Reserves 1979 - 1991 with active duty in Desert Storm. If you knew Thelma, you knew that she didn’t drive far, like to sing in the choir, go out to eat with her friends and enjoyed playing bingo. Thelma provided encouragement , advice and discipline to anyone who would listen and once she had your ear, she had your heart. We will miss that “honey chile” and infectious laughter. For those that crossed her path and hung around for a moment, she will be remembered as a loving and caring mom, grandma, daughter, sister and friend.
